In this special version of our Foundations of Effective Business Communication workshop, for Morningstar employees only, we’ll explore some key theoretical underpinnings of effective communication in the professional world, examine three keys tools that help us influence others through our various modes of communication, and take a critical look at the crucial role audience and purpose play in shaping our content and delivery.
Through interactive activities and group discussions, this short session introduces participants to concepts and frameworks they can quickly put to work in their professional contexts.

This particular workshop is for Morningstar employees only and benefits anyone wanting to learn concrete strategies to improve their communication skills, while also gaining a deeper understanding for how influence works in professional environments.

As with all PLC workshops, this virtual one involves breakout sessions and interactive elements, as well the use of advanced virtual technology.
Program Outcomes

Your Facilitator
Rod Taylor, Ph.D., CEO of PLC
Rod Taylor is an award-winning educator, scholar, author, and the founder and CEO of Performance Learning Concepts. He’s been active in teaching, leadership training, and speaking for over thirty years. He’s taught at Stanford, Indiana University, and the Honors College at Tennessee State University, and his advanced degrees in education, literature, writing, and philosophy have influenced his approach to working with leaders in the business world. His interdisciplinary approach to the arts and business has him traveling internationally to provide keynotes and lead workshops on Communication, Design Thinking, Innovation and Creativity, Growth Mindset, and Leadership.

Rod has also served as a Faculty Fellow at the Design School in Paris, France (d. School Paris-Est) and an Artist-in-Residence and strategic leadership consultant to the College of Arts and Science at Lipscomb University. A longtime musician, he lives in Nashville, TN, where he’s had the pleasure of playing bass for a variety of artists, including Victor Wooten, the Warren Brothers, Krista Detor, Cindy Morgan, Chuck Rainey, and Jenee Fleenor
